PERFORMER BIO

Simon Spiro is known in his native England as “The British Jazz Singer” for successfully balancing dual musical careers: Hazzanut and Pop. He is recognized worldwide as one of today’s top Cantors and he has also made a mark in the pop world singing with Elton John, Faith Hill, Phil Collins, Cliff Richard and others. Simon is one of the leading recording artists for the Milken Archive of Jewish Music and recently in Toronto he starred in British, Yiddish & Kiddush! with Mike Burstyn and Cantor Itzhak Meir Helfgott. Simon is also renowned for the “Spiro Sound” he has developed in a cappella choirs from the UK to Canada, from New York to Disney’s EPCOTT. Simon is currently Senior Cantor of Beth Tzedec Congregation in Toronto.

A Cappella Pops!

Simon Spiro & the Toronto Festival Singers

It's another amazing concert with Simon Spiro, this time accompanied by Ontario's premier a cappella group, The Toronto Festival Singers. Simon Spiro is a Jewish Music Week favourite - you've seen him in such diverse JMW concerts as The Israeli Song Festival, 100 Years of Jewish Hollywood, The Great American Jewish Songbook, The Kids from Brooklyn and last year's Wonderful World of Moishe Oysher.

This year, Simon is outdoing himself ad once again showing Toronto why he's been called the most unique Cantor of his generation!  But this is not a Cantorial concert; it's a trip around the world and through the year for a cappella Israeli, Yiddish, Cantorial, Broadway, Doo-Wop and much more! Enjoy the special Spiro Sound and the smooth blend of this elite ensemble.
