We’re ending our week with a bang, so bring your friends and come join the exciting celebration! It’s a fantastic night of music, featuring a double bill of two bands from the top of Toronto's music world. First get started with Jaffa Road delivering the award-winning sound that they have created, drawing from the worlds of sacred and secular Jewish songs, Arabic and Indian music, modern jazz, rock and dub. Then hear David Buchbinder’s explosive Jewish/Cuban musical mash-up Odessa/Havana, a high-powered collision of two great musical styles, predated by the Jewish-fuelled, American Mambo craze of the 1950s. Join us for music alone, or for the full dinner and a show. Either way, it’s a night not to be missed!
Toronto-based, Juno Award-nominee Jaffa Road is comprised of some of Canada’s most exciting and innovative interpreters of inter-cultural music. Odessa/Havana was born in the musical ferment of downtown Toronto, where musicians and creators from many different backgrounds come together. The musicians of Odessa/Havana represent the cream of the crop in Canada and beyond, a Who’s Who of the international world jazz and pop scene: David Buchbinder (trumpet/composer), Hilario Duran (piano/composer), Quinsin Nachoff (reeds/flute), Aleksander Gajic (violiln), Luis Guerra (piano), Mark Kelso (drums), Rick Shadrach Lazar (percussion), Dafnis Prieto (drums), Jorges Luis “Papiosco” Torres (percussion) and Robero Occhipinti (bass)..
