PERFORMER BIO
Much in demand, the Boston-based KCB has performed in concert halls and music festivals around the globe. They have made numerous appearances on Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion”, and have performed onstage with such talents as Joel Grey and Itzhak Perlman. They have ten outstanding CD recordings to their credit.
Klezmer Conservatory Band
It’s an electrifying evening with North America’s leading Klezmer group! Since its formation in 1980 by renowned musician and composer Hankus Netsky, the KCB has become the voice of Klezmer and Yiddish songs in the world today. Their music mixes up Jewish ragtime, souped-up Mahler symphonies and Dixieland in a dizzying musical cocktail – an irresistible mixture, even if you don’t speak Yiddish. In this exhilarating concert, you will hear Yiddish standards, rousing dance medleys and little known gems played by the incredible KCB musicians: Ilene Stahl (clarinet), James Guttman (string bass), Grantley Smith (drums, percussion), Yaeko Miranda-Elmaleh (violin), Lorin Sklamberg (vocals), Mark Berney (cornet), Mark Hamilton (trombone), and Eden MacAdam-Somer (violin/fiddle).
