Music and the Art of Marc Chagall
Cantor Katie Oringel, narrated by Harvey Atkin
Join us in one of Toronto’s oldest and most charming synagogues for this unique program. With vocals, piano and clarinet, Cantor Katie Oringel leads us down the shtetl street of Chagall’s artwork, weaving together a multimedia experience of art and music on the life of Marc Chagall.
Cantor Katie Oringel graduated cum laude from Florida State University with a double degree in Music and Religion. She has served as Cantor and in Jewish leadership roles in Florida, New York, Australia, New Zealand and Russia. While studying abroad in London, Katie took an art history course that acted as the impetus for her master’s thesis “A Polyphonic Canvas: Jewish Music and the Art of Marc Chagall.” She is currently the Cantor and Youth Director of Temple Sinai Congregation in Toronto.
Harvey Atkin’s acting credits include the film Meatballs, the long-running television series, Cagney and Lacey, Law and Order, Suits and King.
This event is presented in partnership with Doors Open Toronto.
