PERFORMER BIO 

 

Erica Goodman and Suzanne Shulman are two of the founders of Trio Lyra. Known respectively as one of the world’s outstanding solo harpists and Canada’s foremost flutist, each has received acclaim for her solo recitals with major international orchestras. They are joined onstage by Ivan Ivanovich, violinist and violist who won Radio Canada’s “Galaxie” Chamber Music Award for two consecutive years, and Joseph Macerollo, a founding member of the International Accordion Society, who has won numerous awards and citations including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Toronto Musicians Association.

Micah and Daniel Barnes are well-known fixtures in the Toronto music world. Daniel is a bandleader, drummer and composer. Micah is a JUNO-nominated singer and songwriter and founder of Singers Playground.

It’s Mother’s Day, so invite Mom to a perfect evening of music!

We open Jewish Music Week 2015 with a glorious salute to the music of Milton Barnes, one of Canada’s most beloved and prolific Jewish composers. Renowned musicians Erica Goodman (harp), Suzanne Shulman (flute), Ivan Ivanovich (viola), and Joseph Macerollo (accordion) present some of Milton Barnes’ most exquisite chamber music including the long awaited performance of the famous Harbord Street, originally commissioned for and recorded by Trio Lyra. This outstanding musical evening is further enhanced with special appearances by musicians Micah and Daniel Barnes, the composer’s sons, who will share personal anecdotes and memories about their father.
