Mahler on the Couch
A genius composer, his wife, her lover. . . . . and Sigmund Freud
Filled with Mahler’s sublime music, this delightful, artistic and occasionally loony fantasia gives a glimpse into the world of Vienna’s cultural elite 100 years ago. Gustav Mahler discovers that his beautiful wife Alma, the darling of Vienna’s arts scene, is having an affair with the dashing architect Walter Gropius. Tormented, Mahler travels to consult with Sigmund Freud. This film is beautifully written and directed by Percy Adlon (Bagdad Café) and his son Felix Adlon.
