The Swinging Sounds of
Moe Koffman
featuring Bernie Senensky and the Moe Koffman Sextet

Join the party! Come help us officially kick-off this exciting week of music in our city by celebrating Toronto’s own jazz great Moe Koffman, composer of the Swingin’ Shepherd Blues. Join us at The Rex, the perfect place to salute Moe, where the fabulous Bernie Senensky and his Moe Koffman Tribute Band will be recreating the sizzling sounds that Moe left for us. The Tribute Band features brilliant jazz flute specialist Bill McBirnie, saxophonist Jake Koffman, guitarist Lee Wallace, as well as two veterans of The Moe Koffman Quintet – bassist Neil Swainson and drummer Terry Clarke.

Toronto pianist Bernie Senensky has earned the reputation of being one of Canada’s premier jazz artists. Thrice-nominated for a Juno Award, he is also a two-time winner of The Jazz Report’s Best Acoustic Pianist Award and has won the SOCAN Award for Best Jazz Composition. In 1979 he began occupying the piano chair in The Moe Koffman Quintet, and he continues to keep the memory and music alive today with his celebrated Moe Koffman Tribute
Band.
