Music of Canada’s Oldest Synagogue: Spanish & Portuguese
Cantor Eyal Bitton
We welcome back one of Jewish Music Week’s favourite presenters! This year Cantor Eyal Bitton takes a look at the melodies of Canada’s oldest congregation, The Spanish and Portuguese. Established in 1768 in Montreal, the music of the Spanish and Portuguese reflects Canadian Jewish history and the effort to mix east with west, Sephardi and Ashkenazi, as well as old and new. You will be absolutely captivated as Cantor Bitton explores the music of this Canadian treasure.
